Collaborating for Quality
CCMH and St. Joe’s announce collaborative for care

On March 31, Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital launched a unique collaborative effort to improve patient safety and care in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The new care collaborative between the two hospitals seeks to standardize safety initiatives. Traditionally this kind of collaboration presented challenges for hospitals due to differences in processes, staff and technology. However, with both Camden-Clark and St. Joseph’s sharing many of the same medical staff personnel, the partnership is both relevant and timely.

Several areas of collaboration have been discussed by the two hospitals including universal protocols, which seek to prevent wrong site, wrong procedure and wrong person surgeries; sharing of educational opportunities and resources; the possible standardization of medical staff identification badges; and color coded armbands.

March for babies
Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and many lifelong disabilities. You can help the March of Dimes fight prematurity by taking steps in March for Babies.

The March of Dimes champions the needs of moms and babies in your community and across the nation. The money raised through March for Babies will support lifesaving research, community services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start.

When you participate in the March for Babies, you give hope to the families of babies born too soon or sick. The money you raise supports programs in your community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. And it funds research to find answers to the serious problems that threaten our babies. Since 1970, March for Babies has raised $1.8 billion to benefit all babies.

Locally, the March for Babies walk will be held on May 2 at the Parkersburg City Park. Registration is at 10 am with the three-mile walk starting at 11 am.
To register a team or for more information, go to www.marchforbabies.org.
