Williamstown Relay is Just around the Corner
The fourth Relay For Life of Williamstown is quickly approaching and it is not too late to get involved. Relay For Life is a signature fundraising event benefiting your American Cancer Society. Teams are formed by family and friends, co-workers, church family, schools and organizations that raise money by asking acquaintances for donations and hosting team fundraisers in the community prior to the event. The Relay For Life of Williamstown will be held Friday, Aug. 8 at Tomlinson Park.
The volunteer event planners have many new activities in store for the relay, such as the “Survivor Choir,” made up of cancer survivors and their caregivers who live in the community of Williamstown beginning at 6:00 p.m. Other activities include a luminaria ceremony, purse auction, road to recovery grand prix car race, several auctions and so much more for all to enjoy.
In addition to scheduled events, all of the teams will have different fundraisers at their campsites during the night. It will be so much fun to visit the campsites to see their decorations and to also find goodies such as: brats, BBQ sandwiches, deep fried Oreo cookies, taco in a bag, chicken and noodles, bake sales, homemade pies, caramel apples, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, ice cream, popsicles, root beer floats and other great snacks. The Relay For Life participants and donors are truly making a difference in the fight against cancer. You can make a difference by supporting these fundraisers. All donations going to support a great cause: your American Cancer Society.
Monies raised at the Relay For Life are used nationwide to fund research efforts, as well as national and local American Cancer Society programs and services such as a wig bank, Road To Recovery–transportation assistance to cancer treatment appointments, Reach To Recovery–visit by a breast cancer survivor to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients, and Look Good Feel Better session for cancer patients who are going through treatments to learn skin care techniques.
The organizers of this event and your American Cancer Society would like to extend a special invitation to all cancer survivors to attend this celebration. Contact your local American Cancer Society at 422-1472, and request a “cancer survivor form” to complete your cancer survivor registration. We hope everyone can come and enjoy this community event. See you there!
