Introducing the Healing Center at Camden-Clark

The Healing Center is now open at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
As part of the hospital’s Total Care program, the Healing Center offers sufferers of chronic health conditions a “one-stop” shop for treatment and relief of a wide range of chronic health problems. Services include pain management, wound care, diabetes management and nutritional counseling.

The Center contains CCMH’s Diabetes Wellness Center, a team of experts in the field of diabetes education, training and management. The Diabetes Wellness Center staff has years of experience and expertise to provide a comprehensive outpatient education and self management program certified by the American Diabetes Association.

The Healing Center also features a revolutionary treatment technology known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Hyperbaric therapy involves placing the patient in a specially-designed chamber that administers a 100 percent oxygen-rich environment. Oxygen reaches the wound through the bloodstream, resulting in improved healing, greater blood vessel formation and reduced likelihood of infection. This treatment provides a non-invasive procedure for patients with difficult wounds, crush injuries, acute burns or diabetes-related ulcers.

The hyperbaric unit consists of a clear chamber seven feet long and three feet wide. The patient lies on a padded table that slides into the tube. The chamber is gradually pressurized with pure oxygen. Chamber pressures typically rise to 2.5 times normal atmospheric pressure. Patients are asked to relax and breathe normally during treatment, and can also watch TV or listen to music during the procedure. During the session, which lasts approximately two hours, patients may experience ear popping.

The Healing Center will also contain Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital’s Outpatient Wound Care Clinic. The clinic specializes in the management of diabetic ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, pressure ulcers, and other non-healing wounds. The Wound Care Clinic is staffed with specially trained RN’s with years of experience.

One of the most attractive aspects of the Healing Center is its convenient and easily accessible location. Housed in Camden-Clark’s Medical Office Building A, the Center offers patients close and ample parking. A large waiting room on the first floor is easily accessible for all. Patients are referred to the Center by their physicians.
