Building
for the future
When
the artists rendition of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospitals Patient
Care Expansion and Renovation Project was finally unveiled, one thing
was perfectly clear. The facility is definitely a building for the
future.
With its glass exterior and modern facade, the new building is a far cry
from the current brick buildings that house the communitys hospital.
When completed, the new facility will not only change the look of Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital but also the skyline of the city of Parkersburg.
However, theres much more to the new facility than cosmetics. The
project will grow the hospital by adding 94,000 square feet
of new space and renovating another 42,000 square feet of existing spaceall
for improved services and even better patient care.
Some of the projects highlights include:
11 new operating rooms
two new minor procedure rooms
three new endoscopy rooms
new recovery area with 26-patient capacity
new histology lab near the surgical suite
for quicker lab results
18-room intensive care unit
18-room advanced care unit
private ICU and ACU rooms with private baths
same-day surgery area with 34 private rooms
new pre-admission testing area
a new dietary department
new gift shop
atrium dining area
convenient parking
dedicated public elevators
visitor-friendly patient areas
dedicated family support areas including
waiting areas and conference rooms
new cafeteria
dedicated staff support areas and lounges
new sterile processing department
One of the best parts about the project is that it will not interrupt
the current services or parking at the hospital. The expansion is slated
for completion by 2007 while the renovation should be finished by 2009.
