Camden Clark Medical Center held a dedication ceremony on Aug. 23 to officially name the hospital’s Leadership Academy in honor of Laurence B. Mallory, a member of the Camden Clark Medical Center Board of Directors from 1989 to the time of his death earlier this year.

Laurence B. Mallory, also known as Larry Mallory, devoted his personal time and energy to help others achieve their quest for leadership excellence. He spent many years supporting and recognizing the most important resource of the hospital—its employees.

As part of the dedication ceremony, a photo of Larry Mallory was unveiled along with a plaque honoring his dedication to leadership. The photo and plaque will be permanently displayed in the South Tower of the hospital along with photos of all the academy’s graduating classes. The academy will now be known as the Laurence B. Mallory Leadership Academy.

CCMC CEO Mike King unveiled the photo with assistance from Mr. Mallory’s wife, Marie.

Camden Clark’s Leadership Academy, under the direction of Nancy Brooks, Director of Organization Development and Support Services, is a one-year program limited to eight candidates chosen by senior leadership.

Participants are required to take classes and electives totaling 110 hours. In addition, a hospital project, shadowing, community service and personal assessments are required.

The Leadership Academy was established with the generous support of the Camden Clark Foundation.
