Camden Clark recognized for Nursing Excellence
Camden Clark Medical Center Nursing staff has been recognized for excellence in nursing by
receiving eleven out of the total fifty 2012 WV Top 50 Nurse Excellence Awards, awarded by the
WV Center for Nursing Excellence.
Each year, the West Virginia Center for Nursing selects only 50 nurses from around the state to
receive this prestigious recognition in the areas of nursing leadership, clinical practice, nursing
education and specialty nursing. The awards will be presented at a Black Tie Gala Event held
this year at the Grand Pointe in Parkersburg on October 6th.
“It is a great honor to have had eleven of this year’s WV 50 Top Nurses, selected from CCMC
to receive the Nursing Excellence Award. We are extremely proud of the outstanding care our
nursing staff provides to our patients and community every day. The nursing staff of CCMC has
a dedication to their patients and their profession which has been recognized by nurses across
the state through this Nurse Excellence Award”, said Sherry Simmons MSN, CNO, VP Patient
Care Services.
“It is an honor for the nurse who receives this annual state award”, Mary Kibble-Leu, Director
of Professional Practice and Education at Camden Clark said, “and having this many from our
area speaks to the skill, dedication and commitment to our patients.”
The nominations which are submitted include a summary of how each nurse has made
significant contributions to nursing and to the health and well-being of patients in West Virginia.
Each application is anonymously reviewed by a committee at the WV Center for nursing and the
recipients are chosen for the award based on the merits of the individual.
