Physician-Directed Weight Loss

Nutritional counselingCamden Clark offers both surgical and non-surgical options for treating the overweight and obese.

Laparoscopic Surgery
This minimally invasive procedure is designed to help obese patients feel full after eating small portions of food. In the procedure, a band is placed around the upper portion of the stomach and connected to an access port placed beneath the skin of the abdomen. This port enables the provider to adjust the band, if necessary, to meet the specific weight-loss needs of the patient. This type of bariatric surgery does not involve stapling, cutting or intestinal rerouting, making it a safer alternative to gastric bypass surgery. This procedure is limited to patients who are severely or morbidly obese. For more information, call (304) 420-7155.

Outpatient Nutrition Counseling
Nutrition counseling provides one-on-one meal plan education to help manage disease conditions. Nutritional education and pre- and post-operative monitoring and counseling are provided to individuals in the Gastric Banding program. A multidisciplinary team specializes in helping severely and morbidly obese patients lose weight when conventional weight loss methods have failed.

Your Primary Care Physician can refer you to the Camden Clark Weight Loss Center for dietary assistance provided by a Registered Dietitian. These nutritional counseling services are provided in one-on-one or group settings at the 604 Ann Street Clinic location.
